Apexx Akitas is an AKC-registered American Akita breeding program located in Sussex County, New Jersey, serving Georgia families through professional in-cabin flight nanny delivery to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), Savannah (SAV), Augusta (AGS), and Columbus (CSG). We have produced 10 AKC Champions and Grand Champions to date, with three more dogs currently finishing their titles. Every breeding dog in our program carries an AKC Championship or Grand Championship title and has passed all five OFA health clearances. Most breeders will tell you exactly what you want to hear to make the sale. I will not. Before I place an American Akita with a Georgia family, we will have an honest conversation about climate.
The American Akita is a double-coated northern breed developed for cold weather. Georgia summers, particularly from May through September, are the opposite of the climate this breed was built for. Temperatures regularly exceed 90 degrees with high humidity, and heat season in Georgia lasts five months, not two or three. This is a real commitment issue, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest and dangerous for the dog.

I review every application personally and use it to understand your household, your experience with dogs, your living situation, your climate control setup, and your commitment level. Georgia applications receive additional scrutiny on heat management preparedness. Not every applicant is approved.

Yes, timing matters for Georgia placements.
